Independant Contractor Discrimination Started by friendlybull74 , May 29 2013 11:39 AM Please log in to reply 7 replies to this topic Posted 29 May 2013 - 11:39 AM From Illinois,
A friend of mine paid $2000.00 to go to a local dog grooming school and be trained as a groomer.
It was supposed to take 3 months. After two weeks the owner said she was good enough and didn't need 3 months of training, and said she had completed the program early.
The owner stood by that word at first and asked my friend to work for her as an independant contractor.
My friend took the offer; pay $500/month for her booth and use all facilities and keep all profits after paying rent.
That went along for a couple months. Then they started to get into it because the owner kept wanting to nickle and dime my friend for more money on top of the $500/month they agreed to.
Finally it came to a head and the owner "fired" her. There were some text messages from the owner regarding some health issues my friend had, and the owner was actually making fun of her like a childish 8 year old. Now my friend is out with no job. We also have evidence from at least one confirmed person that the owner is bashing my friend's character and rep to customers.
My friend wants to file a lawsuit but from what I can see I don't think she has a case. I see lots of wrongdoing but I don't see a solid lawsuit.
